Draco's opinions

So I noticed that Draco tends to target Ron in all of the early interactions, and cmwinters pointed out it was probably because of the blood issue. Further support for that theory is that the first time Draco says anything to Hermione, it's the "filthy little Mudblood" retort on the Quidditch pitch (CoS), and it's *only* after she said something directly to him. (I'm going to skim over the text again to make sure that's the first time, but I'm pretty sure.) Anyway, the blood issue is obviously a huge deal to Draco.

But he definitely doesn't ignore Harry completely, which makes me wonder. Either half-bloods aren't as yucky to Draco as full muggle-born children, or Draco's been told to be nice to Harry Potter (as we see at the beginning of CoS) *OR* maybe his blood status isn't that well known by Draco. After all, "Potter" is a pure-blood name, since James was a pure-blood. It's possible that Draco gets all his info from his daddy (remember, at the beginning he's only 11 or 12!), and Lucius never bothered to pay much attention to someone named James Potter and who he married.

p.s. I think Ron might have inherited some of his father's fascination with Muggle stuff. He's the one poking Dean Thomas' posters to see if they move, and trying to use the telephone, and -- something else, very big, in the first two books. I'll have to look it up.
