and this week's smut_wednesday
, I have seen some truly fabulous art recently. Now, I've made an effort to always comment on fic that I read, but that's partly because I've heard over and over that fic authors want feedback. I've never heard this about artists. I almost never have anything to say about art, besides "wow" or "guh". Since I have no artistic ability, only awe and admiration for anyone who does, I can't presume to know if feedback is seen the same by both groups (and yes, I know there's some overlap). So! I thought I would ask.
Artists: How do you feel about comments?
I love them! They inspire me to share more of my work!
Comments are love. I appreciate every response I get.
Comments are nice but not essential, especially those that are only a word or two long.
I don't really care about comments one way or the other.
EW! Comments, gross!
Artists: What about "constructive criticism," or comments that suggest ways to improve your work?
PLEASE! I can't get enough concrit for my art!
Sometimes I like it, sometimes I don't. Depends - I'll comment with what it depends on.
I say that I like constructive criticism, but sometimes it makes me feel bad. I'm trying my best already.
I don't really want suggestions on my work.
If I want suggestions, I'll post to a community specifically for criticism.
Most people aren't qualified to comment on art, anyway.
Artists: What do you generally want to know from your viewers/fans/readers?
If people rec (link to) my art i2n their journal or newsletter.
If people make/want to make icons out of my art (credit is assumed).
If people are turned into piles of mush by my art.
What specifically a person liked or didn't like about the work.
Other - I'll comment with something else I like to know.
Do you answer comments on your artwork?
